# Morning Brief API Hub > Free USDA, SEC, NOAA, FHWA and EPA data APIs for developers and AI agents. No key, no signup. > Site: https://morningbrief.link This site is an API developer hub (the old Morning Brief newsletter is retired). It offers six free, keyless JSON APIs plus MCP tools, and eighteen ready-made web tools built on top of them. Data is USDA, SEC filings, NOAA weather, FHWA bridge data and EPA drinking water data — no estimates, no third-party feeds. ## Magpie — USDA market data Base URL: https://ag.morningbrief.link Agriculture market data: daily grain bids, livestock and dairy prices, fertilizer prices, USDA crop condition and progress ratings, monthly WASDE supply-and-demand forecasts, weekly export sales, and monthly export shipments. Magpie is USDA-only.) ## Farmland — land values and cash rents Base URL: https://land.morningbrief.link USDA farmland values and cash rents for 48 states each (2026). Updated once a year when USDA NASS publishes (August). Key endpoints (all GET, all JSON, no auth): - /v1/land/values — farmland values by state/county and year (?state=IL&year=2026) - /v1/land/rents — cash rents by state/county and year - /v1/status — dataset coverage and row counts - /mcp — MCP endpoint (3 tools: get_land_values, get_cash_rents, list_coverage) ## Edgar — SEC company financials Base URL: https://edgar.morningbrief.link Standardized financial statements for US public companies, cleaned from their SEC filings. 8,029 companies indexed; 22 standardized concepts (revenue, net income, assets, liabilities, equity, cash, cash flow, capex, EPS, and more). Every figure carries its source tag and filing; restated figures replace older ones. Figures computed from reported parts carry a derived: tag. Share counts are as reported per filing and are not split-adjusted. Key endpoints (all GET, all JSON, no auth): - /v1/companies/search?q= — find companies by ticker or name - /v1/companies/company?ticker=|cik= — one company's profile (exchange, industry, fiscal year end) - /v1/financials/statements?ticker=&period=annual|quarterly — standardized statements - /v1/financials/metric?ticker=&concept= — one concept's full history - /v1/financials/concepts — the 22 concepts and the SEC tags behind each - /v1/status — coverage and row counts ## Weather — NOAA weather Base URL: https://weather.morningbrief.link Live National Weather Service weather for five farm-belt regions (IL-central, IA-central, NE-central, IN-central, KS-central), proxied from api.weather.gov and cached for about 15 minutes. Free, no key. Key endpoints (all GET, all JSON, no auth): - /v1/bridges/search?state=IL&county=031 — bridge records in a state, narrowed by FIPS county code, route, condition, posting status, or text - /v1/bridges/bridge?id=001000200000000&state=IL — one bridge by structure number - /v1/bridges/county?state=IL&county=031 — bridges in one county - /v1/bridges/worst?state=IL — worst-rated bridges in a state, poorest first - /v1/bridges/posted?state=IA — load-posted or closed bridges in a state - /v1/bridges/clearance?state=IL&max_height_m=4.27 — bridges at or below a vertical clearance, in meters - /v1/bridges/summary?state=IL — state roll-up - /v1/bridges/counties?state=IL — per-county roll-ups - /v1/bridges/nearby?lat=41.878&lon=-87.630&radius_km=10 — bridges near a point, nearest first, with distance_km - /v1/bridges/screen?points=41.878,-87.630|41.886,-87.620&height_ft=13.5&weight_lbs=80000 — screen a corridor against a vehicle profile: fails first, then warnings, each with distance_km (buffer_km default 2, max 25; limit default 100, max 500) - /v1/status — catalog (624,193 bridges, 2025 edition) plus a live anchor-query health check - /mcp — MCP endpoint (10 tools: search_bridges, get_bridge, list_bridges_in_county, get_worst_bridges, list_posted_or_closed_bridges, find_low_clearance_bridges, get_state_summary, get_county_summaries, find_bridges_nearby, screen_corridor) Searches must name a state or smaller area; unscoped scans and unknown state codes return 400. Counties take a 3-digit FIPS code. Clearances are in meters. Paging is limit/offset: search, county, and posted default to 100 (max 1000); worst defaults to 50 (max 500); clearance defaults to 100 (max 500). ## Drinking Water — EPA drinking water data Base URL: https://water.morningbrief.link Every US public water system in the EPA Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS), via EPA's ECHO bulk download, 2026 Q3 vintage — 434,757 systems, 143,024 of them active: system lookups, search, county and state summaries, and current health-based violations. Free, no key. Refreshed quarterly. Key endpoints (all GET, all JSON, no auth): - /v1/drinking-water/system?pwsid=IL0970450 — one water system by PWSID - /v1/drinking-water/search?q=&state=&county=&type=&active=&limit= — search systems by name, state, county, type, or active only - /v1/drinking-water/county?state=IL&county=Cook — county summary plus worst-affected systems (county name case-insensitive, EPA spelling) - /v1/drinking-water/state?state=IL — state summary plus counties with the most affected systems - /v1/drinking-water/violations?state=&contaminant=&limit= — current health-based violations (status Unaddressed or Addressed) - /v1/drinking-water/contaminants — contaminants with current violations - /v1/status — service catalog and freshness - /mcp — MCP endpoint (6 tools: get_water_system, search_water_systems, get_county_water_summary, get_state_water_summary, get_current_health_violations, list_contaminants_with_violations) Caveats: SDWIS covers public water systems only — private wells are not in it. Only health-based violations are included (MCL, treatment technique, MRDL); monitoring and reporting violations are not. A county summary describes all systems serving that county and is not a verdict on one address. States report to SDWIS on their own schedules, so state reporting lags exist. County population sums the full population of each system serving the county. ## MCP (Model Context Protocol) Magpie: POST https://ag.morningbrief.link/mcp (Content-Type: application/json) Edgar: POST https://edgar.morningbrief.link/mcp Farmland: POST https://land.morningbrief.link/mcp Weather: POST https://weather.morningbrief.link/mcp Bridges: POST https://bridges.morningbrief.link/mcp Drinking Water: POST https://water.morningbrief.link/mcp Standard JSON-RPC, protocol version 2024-11-05. Send {"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"} to enumerate tools. Magpie has 27 (grain/livestock/dairy/fertilizer prices, NASS stats, crop condition and progress plus their histories, WASDE forecasts, export sales, trade flows); Edgar has 5 (search_companies, get_company, get_financials, get_metric_history, list_financial_concepts); Farmland has 3 (get_land_values, get_cash_rents, list_coverage); Weather has 3 (get_weather, get_forecast, get_weather_history); Bridges has 10 (search, single-bridge lookup, county lists, worst-rated, posted/closed, low clearance, state and county summaries, nearby, corridor screen); Drinking Water has 6 (get_water_system, search_water_systems, get_county_water_summary, get_state_water_summary, get_current_health_violations, list_contaminants_with_violations). Tool results arrive in an envelope {status, data, provenance} so agents can tell fresh data from a gap. ## Data honesty Every API response carries a _provenance stamp: where the data came from, how often it refreshes, and the exact date it covers. Gaps are labeled, not hidden: - no_data — valid question, nothing matches the filter - source_unavailable — the USDA source (or our copy) failed right now - withheld — deliberately excluded by a quality check, with the reason given (e.g. butter: USDA publishes only price differences, no base price) ## Web tools Eighteen browser tools on the same data, catalogued at https://morningbrief.link/tools (product homes: /ag Magpie, /land Farmland, /edgar Edgar, /weather Weather, /bridges Bridges, /water Drinking Water): https://morningbrief.link/ag/grain (Price Finder), /ag/wasde (Market Outlook), /ag/crops (Crop Health), /ag/exports (Demand Tracker), /ag/trade (Shipment Check), /ag/fertilizer (Input Costs), /ag/livestock (Livestock Prices), /ag/dairy (Dairy Prices), /land/values (Land Lookup), /land/rents (Rent Lookup), /edgar/ (Company Explorer — SEC financials by ticker), /edgar/company (Company Profile — one company's snapshot and key ratios; ?t=TICKER), /edgar/compare (Company Compare — 2–4 companies side by side; ?a=NVDA&b=AMD), /edgar/trend (Metric Trend — one figure across all reported years; ?ticker=NVDA&concept=revenue), /edgar/ratios (Ratios & Quality — margins, returns, leverage from filings; ?t=TICKER), /weather (Weather Lookup — current conditions, forecast and history for five regions), /bridges (State Summary — bridge counts, condition splits, and worst-rated bridges for any state), /water (County Summary — water systems serving any county, population served, and current health-based violations, plus a system lookup by PWSID). ## Machine-readable endpoint index /api-index.json — endpoints with method + plain-language description. ## Docs Full developer docs: https://morningbrief.link/docs
